So if I am understanding this correctly, to the best of public knowledge McConnell is brain dead

and the Republicans aren't allowing his death to be called to prevent the Democratic Governor from appointing another Democrat...if true, this is really sick and should be illegal...WTF?

an approved list. A sneaky little piece of legislation the KY pukes passed to prevent him from doing just that. And let us remember that mcturtle is retiring at the end of this year.

Kentucky changed the law again in 2024 mandating calling of a special election unless closer than 95 days to next statewide election.

mcturtle had a 20 minute conversation this morning. And mcturtle's wife, elaine chao (remeber that one?) saw nothing in her husband's medical condition to cancel, or shorten, her trip to China. So, see. ole mitch is perfectly fine. .except for being in the hosital for three weeks, at our expense.

Mitch McConnell is doing well. I spoke with him today. It was unusually hot, though. -- Charlie Kirk

McConnell is like Schrödinger's cat: he is simultaneously alive and dead.

At least that is my current theory.

If the vacancy was far enough in advance of the election, Beshear could challenge the law barring him from making the appointment more effectively.

It is arguable that less than 3 months before an election, the office would have remained vacant even under the law before the 2021 changes.

Timing matters.

Beshear made it pretty clear that if he was given the opportunity, he would challenge the law.
