Still will not shop at Walmart… haven’t since late 80s as investigating reports were being done (back when there were still some journalist). They still treat employees like crap and jack up prices.

"Trump noted that one grocery price that the savings include is a reduction in the cost of beef, which he said will be lowered by almost 15% per pound. Walmart said a pound of beef will now cost $5.94 instead of $6.74.

"This is a huge deal for the many millions of Americans who, smartly, shop at Walmart, which is a truly patriotic Company who loves the USA," Trump posted on Truth Social. "Walmart is stepping up in a big and bold way, and other retailers should follow the lead of these absolute Patriots. Together, we will make America stronger and greater than ever before." [barf]

Other savings include reducing the cost of a two-pound bag of red cherries from $11.18 to $5.63 and reducing 24-packs of Coca Cola and Pepsi products to $9.97. The packs of Coca-Cola were $14.97 each and Pepsi were $13.97."

Also the article notes this is basically a sale in celebration of the 250th anniversary not a permanent reduction

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump on Monday sought to take credit for recent price cuts by Walmart, but a statement by the retailer made no mention of the administration’s involvement in its decision.

The president has faced public backlash over inflation rising during his watch, as prices climbed initially in the aftermath of his tariffs and later with the start of the Iran war in late February. Trump described a recent bipartisan measure to trim housing costs as “a yawn” and tried to blame the Democrats for inflation staying elevated.

“I have just been informed that one of the biggest, best, and smartest Retailers in America, Walmart, will be lowering prices, by a lot, at my Administration’s request to celebrate our great Country’s 250th birthday,” Trump said. “Walmart will, in particular, be dropping the price for a pound of ground beef by almost 15%, among many other products.”

The company, in a statement issued Monday after the president’s post, said its price rollbacks at Walmart and Sam’s Club “are designed to help customers and members make the most” of the summer season. There was no mention of any interaction with the administration and the company did not publicly comment on Trump’s claims.

Walmart recently rolled back prices on over 250 seasonal grocery and household items to combat inflation. While President Trump claimed the reductions were made at his administration's request to celebrate America's 250th birthday, Walmart's official announcements omitted any mention of the White House.
