Defeat from the jaws of victory: How could AG Luther Strange be this dumb? (al.com/Whitmire)

I want you to imagine the most absurdly easy variation of Monty Hall's "Let's Make a Deal," where our contestant today is none other than Alabama Attorney General Luther Strange.

This game is easy for two reasons. The first is that our doors are made of glass. There's no mystery what's on the other side.

Behind Door No. 1 is what's good for the people of Alabama -- in this case, a chance to clean up Montgomery and give our state more honest, trustworthy government.

Behind Door No. 2 is what's good for Strange -- a path to a higher office of his choosing, either Alabama governor or the United States Senate.

Behind Door No. 3 is a goat.
