Doug Jones endorses Randall Woodfin for mayor of Birmingham
U.S. Sen. Doug Jones announced his endorsement of Mayor Randall Woodfin Thursday for re-election as mayor of Birmingham. In a video recorded in front of 16th Street Baptist Church, Jones points to the promises he says Woodfin has kept as proof of his leadership and commitment to setting Birmingham on the right path towards a better future, paved by diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Jones highlights the success of Woodfins unprecedented investments in Birminghams people with Birmingham Promise, Pardons for Progress and revitalization efforts in all 99 neighborhoods. He goes on to discuss Woodfins progress Reimagining Public Safety with his recently-announced ban on high-risk no-knock raids, choke-holds, implementation of the Civilian Review Board and removal of over 5,000 illegal guns from Birminghams streets since taking office.
Randall led us through the challenges of COVID to make real progress for the people of Birmingham, but he isnt stopping there, said Jones.
