Investments for teachers' pension fund earn 10% for year

Investments by the Alabama Teachers' Retirement System earned 10.4 percent during the fiscal year that ended Sept. 30, up sharply from the 1.04 percent the previous year.

Officials said the report was good news.

"What happened is we moved the decimal point one place to the right," State Treasurer Young Boozer said.

Boozer is a member of the TRS Board of Control. The investment earnings numbers were released at a board meeting today.
