If that local elected official wants the position, then they can campaign for it and win it fair and square instead of having it handed to them.

Good luck with your decision and your campaign! We certainly need more DUers in office.

I see too much of this kind of control. Fight it. This may be the beginning of something grand! And if not, you have demonstrated a willingness to be honest. I hope you run and I hope you win. And if not, lead a campaign for signatures for someone else next time. Keep confronting the establishment. We need democracy.

the "party" is interested in their clique, sometimes to the exclusion of party values. They only have that power if you give it to them so keep going. Good luck to you - I hope you win.
