YES, TOTAL REMOVAL...........WE HAD NO ARMY OR NAVY THEN, AND NO POLICE DEPARTMENTS THEN...(IN 1790s)
Now we have ARMY, NAVY, MARINES AND LOTS OF POLICE DEPARTMENTS.....DON'T WE?

(36,424 posts)What it comes down to as were supposed to tolerate all these people getting killed in their normal lives so these boys can have guns to play with.
Think. Again.
(19,072 posts)Yes, I am for the retirement of the 2nd amendment...
...it's entirely obsolete.
The 'Militia' that needed to be 'well-regulated' has been replaced with the National Guard which supplies any necessary arms to it's members.
The 2nd amendment is moot and should be removed except for historical reference puposes.

End the 2A except for hunting rifles/shotguns.
And no, an AR15 is NOT a hunting rifle.

(17,757 posts)That is not the way. The Supreme Court is the way, we just need a President who can replace some of the far right judges.
At this point in our National History, the most important thing that we have any control over is the coming election. If that election goes South, then 2A will be the least of our worries.

(1 post)The 2nd amendment is seen as untouchable by many people in politics.
However, nothing is set in stone. If there's enough of a popular uprising against our endless cycle of mass shootings and attempts by the right to keep the gun industry and dealers from accountability, then the 2nd amendment could be repealed or modified. We've amended our constitution in the past - alcohol prohibition and its repeal is just one example.
Republican connections to the gun industry need to be emphasized more. For example, NC Congressman Ted Budd owns a gun store that has been cited in FBI documents as one of several dealers in the state that account for the most guns eventually used in violent crimes.
Budd and other Republicans have suppressed reporting of information on specific gun dealers and how their weapons are used in violent crime.

(16 posts)Nothing in the 2nd amendment mentions bullets and gunpowder. Maybe work on that angle rather than firearms
