A protest is being planned for Julian Assanges appearance at the Cambridge Union Society via video link.
Ahead of the event on November 27, the Cambridge University Students Union (CUSU) Womens Campaign has launched a national petition in a bid to get the Wikileaks founders appearance halted. They oppose the invitation because of allegations of sexual offences made against him.
A CUSU Womens Campaign spokeswoman said: We are deeply disappointed the current committee of Cambridge Union Society has decided to re-invite Assange.
Yet again, the Cambridge Union Society is enabling the rebuilding of the public persona of an alleged rapist ...

The Womens Campaign started a petiotion drive against the event, arguing it was inappropriate to give a rapist the platform. Assange then backed out, a week in advance, citing technical difficulties with the videolink. He then scheduled a talk by videolink for the same day elsewhere. The Cambridge Union expressed disappointment about his dishonesty
