Related: About this forumHow we fight back against Tr*mp's mass detention camps LOCAL ACTION WORKS!
https://indivisible.actionkit.com/mailings/view/125195DU'er,
Cruelty against immigrants has been a cornerstone of Trumps authoritarian agenda. Over the past year, weve seen this cruelty up close as the regimes secret police raids our neighborhoods, separates families, and rips apart communities. But behind the scenes, the Department of Homeland Security has also been quietly working to scale up their ability to detain and disappear people in massive numbers.
DHS is actively scouting, purchasing, and planning to convert 23 warehouses nationwide into new detention and processing facilities. This would massively expand their detention capacity, make it even more difficult to expose the inhumane conditions immigrants face in ICE custody, and increase the likelihood for abuse and death.
We need to band together now to oppose the warehousing of humans in the US. The good news is, were already seeing early wins in this fight.
Local activists have helped prevent the construction or conversion of 12 new detention centers across the country. This includes warehouses in rural areas and deep red states, where weve even seen some Republican Members of Congress publicly oppose DHSs planned warehouse conversions.
Were launching a new campaign to build and expand on these early wins. Well be sharing new tools and resources to organize against proposed warehouses in your community, providing dedicated staff support, and connecting local groups with partner organizations engaged in this fight.
To kick things off, were joining a national day of action on April 25 to oppose Trumps mass detention agenda. If youre ready to join the fight, register for our first training call on Tuesday, April 14 at 8pm ET.

The National Day of Action: Communities Not Cages
On April 25, were joining Detention Watch Network and Disappeared in America for a coordinated, nationwide mobilization against the Trump administration's reckless expansion of ICE warehouse detention centers.
Our partners will host six major events at frontline sites -- communities where new detention centers are actively being proposed. Were also asking folks to host visible, peaceful, non-violent actions in your own communities to draw attention to the cruelty of Trumps detention agenda and to pressure our local officials to resist the construction of new detention centers.
Were pushing local governments to:
Abandon any plans to construct new detention centers or convert existing warehouses into detention centers.
Refuse to provide any public funding, permits, services, or cooperation that would enable DHS or ICE to operate a detention facility.
Require transparency and community consent before any federal detention action.
Together, well demand an end to the criminalization of immigration and the assault on due process for all Americans.
What you can do right now
Sign up for the training call on Tuesday, April 14 at 8pm ET/ 5pm PT.
Youll hear directly from organizers at a frontline site about what they're planning, receive resources to find out if a detention center is being planned in your area, and get tools and support to host a safe, peaceful and effective event in your community. (The call will be recorded. If you cant join us on Tuesday, please register and well send you a link to the recording).

The warehousing of human beings is a hallmark of authoritarian regimes. These procurements are a threat to the basic human rights of our immigrant neighbors and the due process rights of everyone in this country.
There's a role for everyone to play in blocking and opposing these mass detention centers, whether you're in a community with a proposed warehouse facility or not. We'll make sure you leave with everything you need to take action on April 25 and beyond.
In solidarity,
Indivisible Team
