Texas police officer shoots woman to death inside her home

Source: NBC news

A Fort Worth police officer checking out a residence with an open door opened fire on a woman inside her home, killing her, authorities said.

The shooting early Saturday happened less than two weeks after a police officer in nearby Dallas was found guilty of murder for fatally shooting a man in his home in 2018. In both cases the officers are white and the victims were African American.

In the Fort Worth shooting at 2:25 a.m. Saturday, authorities have the officer's body-camera footage.

According to NBC Dallas-Fort Worth, the imagery shows the perspective of the officer outside a home, peering inside a window using a flashlight, spotting someone inside standing near a window and telling her, "Put your hands up — show me your hands," before opening fire.

Fort Worth police say one shot was fired.

Like the Tamir Rice murder, the victim of police violence had no time to react before she was murdered.

Hell she could have even had it in her hand and it would have even been legal as it was her own house and if the officer did not identify himself and shot her its manslaughter even if he told her to drop it.

So what is the point of mentioning the gun in the home?

Its discouraging that police departments cannot just be on the level and get rid of bad or unfit cops without dragging the victim through the mud. They tried to do the same thing with Botham Jean, mentioning marijuana in his home. These people have no business being police officers and the police departments should be happy to get rid of them instead of smearing the victims and their families.

I feel like they are trying to give the impression that the gun they mentioned was visible by the officer from the window and can even been seen the actual video they released, but after going through over it a few times I don't think that's the case. The stills were taken from some other unreleased part of the video, and it's not clear where the firearm was at.

As you already stated, that doesn't matter either way. Doesn't seem unreasonable that a person investigating strange people in their backyard late at night might arm themselves.

A nice summer morning I had the back door open about half way to let the cat run in and out while I was in the front room on the computer. To see the door from my desk I have to lean and look around a corner. My backyard is open to the alley. I'm sitting there and I hear knock, knock hello, anyone there? I look around the corner and a police officer looking in. He said he was driving down the alley and notice the door ajar and was doing a welfare check. I said thank you and he left.

The point is he knock a few times and said hello. He acted neighborly.

Shine a flashlight in random windows in TX at 2:30 am and a high percentage of them will shoot you through the window.

What was this guy thinking? Why not knock on the door or at least announce yourself prior to approaching?

Unfortunately stupid cops kill people.
