In 1978. Back then, she couldn't have been more sweet and engaging. There were a lot of people trying to get her autograph. She signed all of our autographs up front (about 15), then some guy told her she was needed for something. She said "Sorry guys, I signed as many as I could," and she did. I had a lot of start autographs from Battle of from the first few years, but lost them all when I moved in later years. Darn!!

The cycle of life is what it is, but the last year it seems like a LOT of movie stars are dying in clumps, or hell, week after week of one another. I know many are very old, sick et al, but I don't recall so many dying within such a short period of each other like this. Same goes for musicians also, now that I think about it

And it's amazing how much those "Battle of the..." events were so much a part of the '70s!

Back in 1976, one of my high school classes got tickets to a Mike Douglas Show taping (which was recorded here in Philly) and I managed to snag an autograph from Don Knotts, who was obviously on his way out to his limo and probably had a million things on his mind, but who stopped, looked at me, and graciously signed my little autograph book. But when it came to getting Kristy McNicol's, who at the time was around the same age as my classmates, I watched as her managers and handlers forced her to greet the crowds, holding her in place as she was surrounded by people, and press. And the sheer terror in her eyes hit me so hard that from that point on, I refused to approach any celebrity for an autograph after that.

My condolences to Suzanne Somers friends and family. I loved watching reruns of Threes Company when I was a kid.

That makes 2 remaining from the original cast. Jenilee Harrison and Priscilla Barnes were on during the shows later years.

I admired her very much! I enjoyed her acting and her characters that made me laugh. It always bothers me when celebrities who are near my age start to say goodbye. It's a reminder of how precious time is, and how little there is remaining.

RIP Ms Somers.
