MAGA Senator Josh Hawley Advocates for Being a Christian Nationalist
Source: Daily Beast
Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) assured the National Conservatism conference on Monday that he is a Christian Nationalist.
Hawley has previously written that America as we know it cannot survive without biblical Christianity, reiterated his Christian nationalist bona fides for the conservative conference.
Some will say now that I am calling America a Christian nation. And so I am, Hawley told the crowd. And some will say that I am advocating Christian nationalism. And so I do.
Christian nationalism founded American democracy. The Christian political tradition is our political tradition. the Missouri senator added.

(42,780 posts)Is either incredibly ignorant of U S History or has so much disrespect for his Christian audience that he has no problem lying to them. Or both
If we were a Christian nation there would be no DU, no upcoming election and no SENATOR Hawley.

Furthermore, most of our founding fathers were Deists. As Josh Hawley to explain what a Deist is, and name 3 of them. LOL

(2,613 posts)I was raised as a Christian but no longer religious. They seem to do everything their Christ told them not to do. They will lie, steal, cheat, harm others, but they are doing it for Jesus so it's all good. I don't remember being taught that in Bible class or church.

Also: he's lying. All Hawley cares about is Hawley. He's just another GQP sociopath.

(2,929 posts)...as an example of the kind of Christianity that some of the Founding Fathers practiced. Jefferson in particular would be considered highly non-orthodox even by the standards of today. He would be utterly denounced by the "God said it, I believe it, that settles it" fundamentalists that are the Republican rank-and-file.
