Democratic US Senator Michael Bennet says Biden cannot win against Trump
Source: Yahoo! News
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Democratic U.S. Senator Michael Bennet from Colorado told CNN on Tuesday he thinks Democratic U.S. President Joe Biden cannot win against former Republican President Donald Trump in the November 2024 elections.
"Donald Trump is on track I think to win this election, and maybe win it by a landslide and take with it the Senate and the House," Bennet said in an interview on CNN.
Bennet, however, did not call on Biden to step aside as presidential candidate.
"We should be having a discussion about that," Bennet said when asked if Biden should step aside as candidate. "This is something for the president to consider."

(27,362 posts)As I've said in other threads, as much as I usually discourage acting like our opponents, this is one time that we Democrats should have followed the GOP playbook -- ignore the naysayers, move on from the debate, change the subject, and rally 100% behind the president.
Comments like his serve no purpose.

(16,783 posts)I'll keep it simple:
President Biden says he is running.
President Biden is completely healthy for his age.
President Biden has the support of the vast majority of the Democratic party.
President Biden was chosen as the nominee by primary voters.

(7,478 posts)Arent these posts sorta kinda against DU rule about bashing the Dem candidate?
I mean if a random DU poster were to say Joe needs to go that post would be removed, er no.
But a Dem politician can say it I reckon
And the other layer of irony is: after he or she comes out and jumps the bandwagon, that Democratic pol, who may also be up for re-election is open for bashing now
Edit: not calling out the OP just the juxtaposition of rules

(1,216 posts)But when Trump loses all of these comments will be part of their "proof" that they won and it was rigged and they need another Jan 6, etc.... I can imagine people like Rob Reiner and even Adam Schiff being quoted at their convention!
I understand the diversity of opinion from good democrats - my thinking on debategate has evolved. But this onslaught from our team is horrible as Joe is working his ass off to right the ship.

(161 posts)I know we're historically hard to get on the same page but JFC.
Do we not have anyone capable of taking these dissidents aside, grabbing them by an ear, pulling them into a corner, and telling them to, at bare minimum, stop undermining the president while he also has to do his day job?
Do they think they're being heroes? They're going to wind up on a unicorn ticket? Maybe be offered a cabinet position? Because they're totally looking like team players here.
And yeah, I've heard how the fact that we can disagree makes us "healthy" compared to the GOP..
But there's disagreeing and then there's trashing your leadership, broadcasting how weak you think your party's leader - your president - is. It's spiteful, unprofessional, disrespectful, and incredibly destructive.
I've been reading these stories about this minority saying this stuff for a week-plus now but this one, this one put me over the edge, I'm so angry.
So much for my resolutions to only look for productive things.

(1,977 posts)if a republican comes forward and says trump should step aside, that person would be ostracized, would get death threats, be doxed- his family threatened, all sorts of shit.
A dem? oh why would you think that? What is it about him you dont like? THIS IS BULLSHIT!
YOU DONT LIKE HIM?

(3,498 posts)I know you are not paid to do that, but VAST amounts of our hard earned money and retirement savings are going to people who ARE paid to help us elect our nominee.
MAKE the democratic operatives do their job. Tell them what you need from them instead of whining at us.
Then tell us what they told you so we can do it too.

People like Bennet don't seem to understand that however poor the optics at the debate were, these optics are worse, inviting a self-fulfilling prophecy.
