Top Democrats, Swallowing Fears About Biden's Candidacy, Remain Behind Him

Source: New York Times

Top Democrats in Congress indicated on Tuesday that they were unwilling — at least for now — to mount an effort to push aside President Biden even after a day of meetings in which their members expressed grave concerns about his age, mental acuity and ability to win re-election.

Both in public and behind closed doors, House and Senate Democrats from across the political spectrum, including ultraliberals in safe seats and centrists in politically vulnerable districts, have raised profound fears about Mr. Biden’s viability as a candidate. But no Democratic leader on Capitol Hill was willing to ask the president to withdraw.

Instead, they emerged on Tuesday swearing allegiance to Mr. Biden, if not exactly in enthusiastic or expansive terms.

“I’m with Joe,” Senator Chuck Schumer of New York, the majority leader, repeatedly replied, as he sidestepped multiple questions about Mr. Biden’s fitness for office.

Looks like as of this afternoon, the show is officially over. Took long enough.

In 2000, the NYT trashed Al Gore the same way they're trashing Biden now. It's now the NYT who wants to disenfranchise the 14 million democratic primary voters who voted for Joe Biden. No way Jose!

They're completely craven and will do anything to gin a up a controversy they can use to sell lots of "product." While, of course, making sure always to keep channels open with the worst of the worst.

Still, they started this thing with their day-after drop out editorial, so it's very nice to see them squinching and wincing and holding their noses to report today's actual news, which is that Biden remains the Dem. candidate and the Dem. party remains behind him.

I’m afraid when a major news network treats a convicted felon who is also a child rapist and idolizes Hannibal Lecter with less scrutiny than a man who attends church every week, has broken no laws, and looks out to protect ALL the citizens of his country, not just the richest 1%.

That’s what I find fearful.

11. Indeed. That's all they've got as they dare not stir the dozing baboon.

On the bright side, if Joe wasn't in full 24/7 campaign mode, he sure is now.
