CNN -- Former President Barack Obama and former first lady Michelle Obama endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris' presidential bid in a video released Friday. "Michelle and I couldn't be prouder to endorse you and to do everything we can to get you through this election and into the Oval Office," the former president told Harris on a phone call joined by his wife, according to the video.
Harris thanked the Obamas for their support and expressed gratitude for their decadeslong friendship. "Oh my goodness. Michelle, Barack, this means so much to me. I'm looking forward to doing this with the two of you, Doug and I both. And getting out there, being on the road," the vice president said.
"But most of all, I just want to tell you the words you have spoken and the friendship that you have given over all these years mean more than I can express, so thank you both. It means so much. And we're gonna have some fun with this too, aren't we?" she added.
The former first lady said she is proud of Harris and expects the upcoming election to be historic. "I can't have this phone call without saying to my girl, Kamala, I am proud of you. This is going to be historic," she told Harris.

Earlier this week, Michelle and I called our friend @KamalaHarris. We told her we think she'll make a fantastic President of the United States, and that she has our full support. At this critical moment for our country, we're going to do everything we can to make sure she wins in... Show more

(105,662 posts)Nicely done video and it will be amazing to see both the Obamas AND the Clintons at the convention.
--What a contrast to the R's whose prior remaining (living) President/Vice President and even the majority of his own prior cabinet wants nothing to do with him.

So they know that this is it. The big tune-out will be commencing and will continue for the next 2 weeks.
IIRC the Closing Ceremonies are August 11.

(3,622 posts)who plotted the overthrow of Biden (who her media feeds were saying just last week was to old and inferm to be running for office), and is now withholding support in order to get Michelle into the Oval Office.
Seriously, this is the kind of crap she gets fed by the internet. By next week there will be a new lie being sold, and it wont do any good reminding her about all the past lies shes swallowed. BTW, she says shes not a fan of TSF, but that everyone knows what a terrible person he is, so theres no need for the media to report on that. 🙄

(139,780 posts)And that is because there was a lot of internal rancor going on in 2012 (that blew up DU as well) about the ACA and "why no Public Option?", "TPP", "Chained CPI", "Keystone Pipeline", "Cat Food Commission", and other crap.
We need to get back to the same level of "public enthusiasm" as that seen in 2008 (or at least similar to what emerged once the nominating process was finalized, which itself was full of drama).

(29,567 posts)but i can't help but wonder: what took them so long? were they thinking it would be okay to override the votes of millions of people and finagle somebody else to be the nominee?
but it's good. yeah

(139,780 posts)From what I saw in articles yesterday, was that they didn't want to "overshadow" her momentum and press coverage, because there is a tendency for the media to suddenly react when they hear someone yell out - "Squirrel!!".
