JD Vance called for 'federal response' to block women from traveling for abortions

JD Vance, the Ohio senator and Donald Trump’s running mate, promoted a baseless rightwing talking point in 2022 when he warned of George Soros-funded planes transporting Black women across state lines for abortions.

“I’m sympathetic to the view that like, okay, look here, here’s a situation – let’s say Roe v Wade is overruled,” Vance said in a recently resurfaced podcast interview. “Ohio bans abortion in 2022, or let’s say 2024. And then, you know, every day George Soros sends a 747 to Columbus to load up disproportionately Black women to get them to go have abortions in California. And of course, the left will celebrate this as a victory for diversity – uh, that’s kind of creepy.”

The US supreme court overturned Roe in 2022. Vance’s statements echo a common anti-abortion talking point accusing abortion providers and their supporters of targeting people of color. Black women did seek abortions at a higher rate before Roe fell, but public health experts say that this is far from proof of a racist conspiracy. They point to a number systemic factors – for example, Black women are more likely to live in areas where it’s harder to access contraception. They are also disproportionately harmed by abortion bans.

Vance continued: “And, and it’s like, if that happens, do you need some federal response to prevent it from happening? Because it’s really creepy. And I’m pretty sympathetic to that actually. So, you know, how hopefully we get to a point where Ohio bans abortion in California and the Soroses of the world respect it.” While Open Society Foundations, which was founded by Soros, does support reproductive rights, the billionaire philanthropist is not directing planes to swoop up Black women for abortions. He has been the target of antisemitic conspiracy theories for years.

JDV lied today about past statements on childless women. I know without a shadow of a doubt I saw a video clip on one of the forums (might have ben CPAC) where he stressed
"If you are a woman who cannot or will not conceive, or are past childbearing age, God has no use for you and neither do I."
You don't forget hearing a man in power say that.

Women are literally just things for men like him to use. We aren't seen as human at all.

That is really what the antiabortion mindset is about.

Will there be inspections in airports, train stations, bus stations, ports, border crossings, etc? Who will do the inspections, Amazon? Elon Musk? Meta? It'd cost a lot, so would they just prevent women from leaving the house unaccompanied by a husband or adult family member with authority?

So many questions they need to answer.

BTW, what's the christofascist equivalent of a burqa? That's probably next. Does some GOP donor have a monopoly on the production of whatever it is?

Cotton clothing in somber solid colors, low heeled shoes with laces, no stockings, arms and neck must be covered. Pants were never permitted. We had heavy wool skirts for the winter. The only jewelry permitted was a small cross and a wedding band.
On the subject of how do they know you are pregnant? In the cult, unmarried women had to show their mother their used pads. Then she reported to her husband.
And no, we didn't need a family member to watch us outside of home, the entire town watched. If I screwed up someone would have taken me home or to the church.

So we're dealing with antisemitism off the bat. Next, he assumes that it would be a plane-load of mostly Black women every day getting a free trip to Cali for abortions (never mind there are going to be closer states and never mind that Ohio voted abortion rights into our constitution). So now he's added racism into the scenario HE created and calls it "creepy". AND he talks about OHIO banning abortions in CALIFORNIA---states' right be damned, huh?
We know who's creepy, alright!

19. new "federal response" - for men receiving erectile dysfunction treatment
Sat Jul 27, 2024, 11:58 AM

RE: "Vance continued: “And, and it’s like, if that happens, do you need some federal response to prevent it from happening?'

I am so tired of hearing men like JD Vance even talk about women's bodies and what women choose to do with their bodies. So, here's an idea for JD Vance to consider:

Why don't we have a "federal response" -- and new federal law -- that requires all men to start publicly disclosing if they take erectile dysfunction pills or get treatment for this condition?

I think there has to be a "federal response" to this: men who may decide to do this to their bodies.

And that all men who get this treatment must disclose publicly their names and medical records should they travel out of state to get this treatment.

JD, what do you think? Can you support that?
