SALT LAKE CITY (AP) Utahs Republican Gov. Spencer Cox came under criticism Wednesday for sending a campaign email that featured a photo of him and former President Donald Trump at Arlington National Cemetery during a wreath-laying ceremony. Federal law prohibits campaign or election-related activities within Army National Military Cemeteries, and that rule was widely shared before the Monday ceremony, Arlington National Cemetery said Wednesday.
Coxs campaign apologized for using the photo and for politicizing the graveside ceremony, which honored Sgt. Darin Taylor Hoover of Utah, one of 13 service members killed in an airport bombing during the Afghanistan War withdrawal three years ago. The email was soliciting donations for Coxs reelection bid.
This was not a campaign event and was never intended to be used by the campaign, the governor wrote in a post on X. It did not go through the proper channels and should not have been sent.
Trumps campaign faced its own blowback over an altercation between his staff and a cemetery worker who tried to stop the team from filming and photographing at the burial site. The former president had been invited to attend by some of the families of the fallen service members. His campaign officials had been warned before their arrival and the altercation that photography would not be permitted in that section of the cemetery, a defense official told The Associated Press on Wednesday.

Then it's on the victim to beat off the holier than thou. It's a feature of the local culture.
The answer is "No. It is not okay."

(2,664 posts)Having sent out a campaign fundraising email with the pictures, Cox is forced to fall on his sword to preserve the gaslighting nonsense of the Master.
So, in addition to being an unethical dipshit, he's also a sniveling coward. Nice look.

(9,671 posts)Clueless politicians such as Spencer Cox tend to leap before they look. Insincere apologies from Cox aside, I would hazard a guess that Republicans running for re-election this cycle might be approaching their association with Trump and his antics with a bit more caution.

"Oh, terribly sorry. Must have been an intern. Silly us. Campaign email, you say? Oh, definitely not a political event, no-sir-ee."
These people are trashbags.

(6,881 posts)Bring in the Governor of Utah so he can get face time with Trump to help both their campaigns.
We know from past words and actions by Trump that he couldn't care less about dead soldiers, aka by him as suckers and losers.
You also know that he is a loveless, self-absorbed creature who will do whatever he thinks will help him get elected, and that after his election he'd never give a thought to the man, whose name he most likely forgot an hour after leaving the grave site.
How could a man without honor actually honor a fallen soldier?
