The National Hockey League just lost one of its star players ... Johnny Gaudreau was killed along with his brother while they rode bikes in New Jersey.

Oldmans Township in South Jersey on Thursday night when they collided with a moving vehicle.”

What a terrible way to word that. It should’ve been worded that Higgins crashed into the cyclers.

Condolences to the Gaudreau family.

TMZ from the state police:

"Higgins attempted to pass the slower-moving sedan and SUV, entered the southbound lanes of travel, passed the slower-moving sedan, and attempted to re-enter the northbound lanes of travel when the SUV in front of Higgins moved to the middle of the roadway, splitting the north and south lanes to safely pass the two pedalcyclist traveling north on the right side of the roadway. Higgins then attempted to pass the SUV on the right and struck the two pedalcyclists in the rear. As a result of the collision, the two pedalcyclists sustained fatal injuries."

It happened early in the evening after sunset. What a tragedy, for no good reason.

I am hyper vigilant on the road, some drivers are aggressive I have had stuff thrown at me. Some are not paying attention, most give me room I try to ride the least traveled roads here in the Catskills.

I do have to say the two times I was almost hit they were motorcycles pulling right out in front of me. So much for look twice save a life.

was supposed to be yesterday. IIRC, Johnny’s wife just had a baby in Feb and Matthew’s wife was due in Dec.

One of my kids plays hockey and this has really upset the entire hockey community.
