Israel recovers bodies of six hostages held by Hamas, including American citizen

Source: Axios

"Israel Defense Forces recovered the bodies of six Israeli hostages held by Hamas in Gaza, including one American citizen, Israeli officials said.

Why it matters: The recovery operation took place amid continued efforts to reach a hostage-release and ceasefire in Gaza deal.

After the operation, there are 101 hostages remaining in Gaza.
Driving the news: The recovery operation took place on Saturday afternoon local time but it took many hours to officially identify the bodies and notify the families, Israeli officials said.

The six bodies belong to three men and three women who were kidnapped by Hamas from the Nova music festival in southern Israel on Oct. 7.
IDF spokesman Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari said the hostages were murdered by Hamas guards "shortly before IDF forces reached them."
The body of Hersh Goldberg-Polin, a U.S. citizen who became the symbol of the American hostages held by Hamas, was among those recovered.

Goldberg-Polin was last seen in a video released by Hamas in April.
His parents recently spoke at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, with thousands in the audience chanting "bring them back" and calling for the release of the hostages.
"With broken hearts, the Goldberg-Polin family is devastated to announce the death of their beloved son and brother, Hersh. The family thanks you all for your love and support and asks for privacy at this time," they said in a statement on Sunday morning local time.
President Biden said Goldberg-Polin's parents "have been relentless and irrepressible champions of their son and of all the hostages held in unconscionable conditions," in a statement on Saturday night.

His death "is as tragic as it is reprehensible," the statement continued. "Make no mistake, Hamas leaders will pay for these crimes. And we will keep working around the clock for a deal to secure the release of the remaining hostages."
Biden said the bodies of the hostages were recovered from a tunnel under the city of Rafah in southern Gaza.
"The threat Hamas poses to the people of Israel — and American citizens in Israel — must be eliminated and Hamas cannot control Gaza," Vice President Kamala Harris said in a statement."

to negotiate a cease-fire..they're systematically killing their "bargaining chips" ..Hamas invades Israel, beheads babies, tortures and dismembers children, rapes women, sets fire to the elderly and disabled, turns a music festival into a killing field, kidnaps Israeli/American citizens and holds them hostage...and yet, somehow Palestinians are the real victims...the same Palestinians who rejoiced in the slaughter of Israeli Jews..but kudos to the Hamas public relations machine, corralling virulent worldwide antisemitism and selling it as Pro Palestine/Anti-Zionist....never mind Hamas diverts humanitarian aid into their own pockets starving their own people...and never mind Hamas stockpiles weapons in tunnels under schools, hospitals, and mosques, using children as human shields..and never mind Hamas started this fucking war with the intent of annihilating not just Israeli Jews but all Jews...you know, finish what Hitler started...

but when Israel retaliates, Israel is told to follow the so-called rules of war, allow Palestinians a safe corridor out of Gaza, provide food and medical supplies before the first missile drops.. better yet, Israel is advised to sit down with Hamas and hammer out a cease-fire before Israel does anything rash like defend itself..

Those six sided star people have been brutalized through western civilization's history. When their blood is spilled, no one cares. When they spill someone else's blood in defense after being relentless attacked, they are wrong and need to sit down and talk out their differences with the people who spilled their blood.

Yet, I didn't see us sitting down with Japan in 1941, nor with Al-Qaeda in 2001, to discuss a "peace."

Hersh's death by execution was the moment my IDGAF flip switched.

I'm okay with sending special forces in to get the Americans out. Anyone gets in their way - shoot them where they find them standing.

My dad was in the first class of Green Berets Andi have six tapes of him from 2004 where he laid everything he did in the 60's and 70's. They were ordered to shoot anyone who got in their way.

Harretz & the Times of Jerusalem that babies were not beheaded. In fact, both papers listed the names & ages of all the dead and one baby was listed. It’s all horrible - even one baby’s death but no need to keep repeating info that was proved not true.

“ One of them was a baby under the age of one year — 10-month-old Mila Cohen, killed with her father and grandmother.”

Additionally, 12 children aged 1 to 9 — 10 boys and two girls — were murdered in the Hamas massacres, according to Walla.

Between the ages of 10 and 19, 36 civilians were murdered, 25 of them male and 11 female.

The largest number of confirmed civilian victims, 421, were in the age group of 20-40. Among them were 259 men and 162 women.

they would still be alive, that's the mantra, but I ask of these naysayers, why did HAMAs kidnap them at all, all the while raping, murdering, desecrating innocent civilians on 10/7?
I await with bated breath for their answers.

Pro-Gaza supporters are justified, Netanyahu is a monster. The problem is, so are Hamas. Simply saying, arms embargo for Israel or else strategy, without protesters even acknowledging Hamas atrocities cannot gain them any favor. Look at Rep Rashida. If she says one word criticizing Hamas, she would gain credibility. But she won't, just like some pro-Gaza supporters. I want to support Gaza but how can I if Hamas keeps doing this. Do they now realize calling Joe or Kamala genocide Biden is stupid.
