A siren blares. Feet crunch on gravel. A county sheriff looks into a car and tells a teenage girl he knows she is pregnant. He arrests her father for driving her to a state where she can get an abortion. And you, young lady, the sheriff says, well, youre under arrest for evading motherhood.
This is an advert from the Lincoln Project, a pro-democracy group, presenting a dark vision of the future for millions of American women if Donald Trump defeats Kamala Harris in the presidential election and criminalises abortion nationwide.
But its target audience includes another crucial group of voters: conservative men. Dobbs Dads named after the supreme courts Dobbs decision, which in 2022 ended the constitutional right to abortion are suburban gen X and millennial fathers angered by the prospect of big government making choices for their wives and daughters reproductive healthcare needs.
The group has been identified as crucial by the Lincoln Projects sister organisation, the Lincoln Democracy Institute, along with Red Dawn conservatives inspired by the 1984 film Red Dawn, in which American teenagers fight invading Soviet forces who value a strong national defence and traditional alliances.

(3,105 posts)Have advocated for, and pushed legislation that would make it a death penalty crime for the women who get an abortion. Bad enough they threaten healthcare workers with prison or whatever, but the death penalty for the women? Jeebus, thats so far beyond the pale that it can be hard to give it credibility. But these assclowns are serious.

(7,630 posts)The abortion issue is only the tip of the outrage iceberg. That largely unappreciated fact needs to be driven into every voter's mind every day until it's no longer the threat it very much is. Make the secessionists get sick of denying the offensiveness lurking in the heart of the 2025 Project

(2,825 posts)and maybe not even get that it was a pro choice ad
not because the ad is vague...it is a great, poweful spot that's message will be crystal clear to it's target audience
but people who want a world like the one depicted are real and they fill the church pews on Sundays to listen to a basically anti-christ message,
