As the 2024 general election campaigns enter the post-Labor Day phase, U.S. Sen. Deb Fischer and her independent opponent, Dan Osborn, spent Tuesday touting their support from labor unions and organizations.
Thirteen labor unions and trade associations gathered at the Omaha Firefighters Hall to endorse the incumbent Fischer, a Republican, in her bid for a third Senate term. Fischer said the number of labor organizations supporting her has doubled, compared with her 2018 campaign.
Meanwhile, Osborn, a former union leader, appears to have maintained his ties to unions as his campaign said 23 unions have endorsed him in his bid to unseat Fischer.
In a press conference at the Omaha Firefighters Hall, Fischers union and trade association backers lauded the Nebraska senators work in Congress they said has benefited members of their organizations. Officials highlighted Fischers work on a bipartisan bill to help law enforcement hire and retain more law enforcement officers, pushing back on efforts to roll back qualified immunity, and her support for the 2021 Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.

(2,575 posts)Scott Walker did when he was trying to make the State of Wisc into "a wholly owned subsidiary of Koch Industries." Walker busted their unions BUT kept and protected/further empowered their Police Union(s). It's textbook Repug, probably even enshrined now w/in the pages of Project 2025.
I didn't know that this is such a close race, based on reading your other post. OMG Nebraska... Wonderful news!
