Man charged with plotting attack on N.Y. Jewish center on Oct. 7 anniversary

snip-"U.S. officials have charged a Canadian resident with plotting to travel to New York to try to carry out a mass shooting against Jewish people on the first anniversary of the Hamas attacks in southern Israel, authorities announced Friday.

The Justice Department said Muhammad Shahzeb Khan, a 20-year-old Pakistani citizen, was arrested Wednesday in Canada on U.S. charges that he attempted to provide material support to a foreign terrorist organization — the Islamic State.

Khan “is alleged to have planned a terrorist attack in New York City around October 7th of this year with the stated goal of slaughtering, in the name of ISIS, as many Jewish people as possible,” Attorney General Merrick Garland said in a written statement."
