Trump has finally scheduled an event in Pennsylvania, aimed at winning over Polish voters in Bucks County. But now, for unstated reasons, the Trump campaign is cancelling the event at the last minute. So whats going on?
It could be a number of things. There is, for instance, an exploding scandal today thats on the verge of taking down North Carolina Republican Governor candidate Mark Robinson. But what would that have to do with a Trump event in Pennsylvania? Its possible Trump is going into hiding completely as the Robinson scandal plays out. But it could easy be something else.

(12,164 posts)... it's to distract the public from the Mark Robinson scandal down in NC.
OR it could be because the Poles don't want him there.
Perhaps it was going to turn out to be bleachers of people in protest of tRump!

(22,162 posts)They probably figured out that Trump just wants to use Duda to try to prove to Polish American voters that he actually gives a crap about whether Putin invades Poland next.
Which he doesn't, of course, but he's figured out that his bromance with Putin is a liability with some voters, and thought this would help. I am GLAD he's not going to get that chance!

(112,658 posts)How to turn Trump against Russia? Ask Polands President Duda.
The countrys government turns to old foes for help in grooming the U.S. presidential candidate.
https://www.politico.eu/article/polands-president-duda-plays-whisperer-to-turn-donald-trump-against-russia/
The Polish government believes it has a secret weapon to shift Donald Trump against Russian leader Vladimir Putin the country's out-of-power populists.
When the U.S. Congress unblocked a $60.8 billion aid package to Ukraine in late April, lawmakers from Poland's now-opposition Law and Justice (PiS) party were quick to proclaim that it was thanks to the influence of one of their own, President Andrzej Duda, who just days earlier met with Trump in his gold-studded eponymous tower in New York for a two-and-half-hour chat to discuss Ukraines military needs, as well as meeting with House Speaker Mike Johnson. "A big round of applause for President Andrzej Duda, who has gained powerful resources to fight Russian imperialism," Dariusz Matecki, a PiS lawmaker, wrote on X. President Andrzej Duda can have a full sense of a job well done for Poland and the entire region, added Marcin Przydacz, another PiS MP.
And in politically divided Poland where the government led by PM Donald Tusk and PiS war over everything from the EU to abortion, public television, rule of law, a project to build a new airport and even electric cars there is rare agreement on the need to butter up Trump.
"I trust that during the New York meeting the president took the Polish government's recommendation and presented the Polish point of view on security issues," tweeted Tusk, an old foe of Duda's. "In these matters we need maximum agreement and minimum controversy."
The reason is that both sides are united on the risk posed by Russia, and on the danger of the U.S. pulling out of NATO and abandoning Europe under a second Trump presidency.

(12,663 posts)My guess is that the Trump team announced his attendance at the dedication prematurely as a joint visit, when in fact they were just trying to to insert DT and Duda wasn't on board. One report announcing DT's intent to appear noted that it was unknown whether the two would meet. Not exactly a "joint" appearance.
My guess is that as they tried horn in on the event it became clear there would be no "joint" about it and DT said nyet.

(12,663 posts)I've only had time to skim, but the reporting seems ambiguous. Sounds to me like Trump cancelled his appearance but President Duda will still attend but what I've read isn't clear.
If that is the case, I would guess President Duda nixed DTs appearance.

We don't know if the Robinson scandal is really a scandal, looking at "adult sites" isn't a crime...yet. It would only be a scandal if those sites were dedicated to buff young men, live children, or dead anybody else, especially women. What would finish a pol running as a pillar of the SBC and paragon of all that is holy in NC ending a career wouldn't cause anything more than a smirk in more sensible parts of the country.
