Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff said former President Trumps vow to protect women is yet more lies and more gaslighting, in a Sunday interview on MSNBCs Inside with Jen Psaki.
In a discussion about abortion rights, Emhoff said it was wrong that his 83-year-old mother is somehow going to enjoy more rights than his daughter, and he blamed the situation on Trump.
This is all because of Donald Trump. He ran on a platform of women should be punished for seeking an abortion. He said that. Theres video. He ran on a platform of appointing Supreme Court justices who would overturn Roe v. Wade, They did just that. And he is for a national abortion ban, Emhoff told Psaki.
Make no mistake, where he says I will be the protector of women, that is yet more lies and more gaslighting, he continued.

(3,456 posts)He'll do what is politically expedient for Trump. "There are good people on both sides" and watch him walk away. "You'll be okay"...(somehow, on your own, maybe relatives can help or you'll just die and the problem will go away but Trump won't be doing anything). This should be clearly apparent to voters in these groups that Trump is again trying to hoodwink them and I hope they vote against him accordingly.

(66,364 posts)is lying as usual and will lash out at anyone who is not in favor of him. Plus he hates women and is going by the Project 2025 handbook.

(1,884 posts)Doug is correct. Trump was, is and always will be a Conman, liar and a cheat. That's exactly how he's gotten through life. He's not very smart, lazy, highly manipulative and a very very evil person.
What more do the voters need to know about this deplorable person? We all know his abominable track record on anything.
By now, most of the voters Who fell for all his endless lies, know they've been conned, but due to ego they will never admit it and they'll vote for him again. Fools.

(22,969 posts)It was part of his written speech, not his typical off-the-cuff ranting.
Apparently, people on his campaign staff have decided this is something that will fly with certain voters.
Are they right? This patriarchal "women are weak, they need a strong man to 'protect' them" has been a staple of our politics and religions and society for centuries. Would it survive this long if it wasn't effective?
