Mark Kelly on Harris: 'I'm confident she's going to win Arizona'

Source: The Hill

Sen. Mark Kelly (D-Ariz.) said Sunday he’s confident Vice President Harris is going to win his state of Arizona and the race overall.

In an interview on CNN’s “State of the Union,” anchor Dana Bash pressed the battleground-state senator on why he thinks Harris is roughly tied with former President Trump in support among Latinos, given that President Biden won the demographic in his state by a 24-point margin four years ago.

Kelly acknowledged other tight races in Arizona in 2020 and 2022 and said the “polls in Arizona, they can bounce around a little bit.” He made the case, however, that Harris is best suited to represent his constituents, and that Arizona Latinos are “going to benefit significantly from a Kamala Harris presidency.”

“Harris and Walz are committed to their values. These are often middle-class and working-class folks. You know, they’re not monolithic on issues, but Kamala Harris cares about them and cares about their families,” Kelly said, referring to Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, Harris’s running mate.

However, I think she may wind up passing Obama 2008 in vote-getting.

Just a line- Harris is the only President that can help me achieve what is good for Arizona. I am sure he will win but I am disappointed he is scared of his Republican supporters. Not sure how he may turn out once he wins.If abortion Rights and democracy are important, Arizona needs to vote Harris. Dem Senators with Trump are no help.

I would like Gallego say it more in his campaign stops in Arizona. Convention is a distant memory for some of our Trump-Gallego voters, as you know.

At least converted one Trump leaning Republican to vote Harris. Some AZ Republicans need to be told many times it is okay to note vote for Trump. They areca cult.

So at least those voters would vote for someone who was on the ticket the last time.

There seems to be a lot of media amnesia (or maybe it's done on purpose) and some kind of odd thought process going on with some people in general, where they have decided to completely skip over the 2020 election that DEMOCRATS WON, and instead go back to an obsessive amount of referencing to 2016 as if 2024 = 2016.

A lot has happened since then, let alone since 2020, to fire up voters in our favor (like the overturning of Roe and of course, Jan. 6 and the 34 convictions of 45). So the dynamic is a bit different.

AZ booted the GOP out of the top row offices (Governor, AG, SOS) and elected 2 Democrats to the Senate (1 who eventually became an (I)). So there is a Democratic presence there willing to turn out and purple up that state real good!.
