To the confusing headline. I wasn't sure what exactly it meant. Not the poster's fault, you have to post the true headline.

But I took the time to read the link. This says it all:

"The justices did not detail their reasoning for keeping in place a lower court order that said hospitals cannot be required to provide pregnancy terminations if they would break Texas law. There were no publicly noted dissents....

Complaints of pregnant women in medical distress being turned away from emergency rooms in Texas and elsewhere have spiked as hospitals grapple with whether standard care could violate strict state laws against abortion."

Cause and effect highlighted.

Thank the Supremes, and Trump, for the unnecessary deaths and suffering of American women.

women. Then they need to march to the capitol and demand impeachment of these justices who are ignoring our Constitution's guarantee of a right to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness--women killed because they are denied emergency care are deprived of all three of these.

Every Republican Congressman and Senator should have sit-ins at the offices in their districts, press conferences outside their offices, letters to editors, etc. in their districts, protests at their fundraising events letting their constituents know that they don't care if women DIE.Call for their resignations if they won't vote to protect women's lives. Turn up the pressure on them everywhere they go.

14. From your post:
Mon Oct 7, 2024, 11:53 AM
Oct 2024
Texas, on the other hand, asked the justices to leave the order in place. Texas said its case is different from Idaho because Texas does have an exception for cases with serious risks to the health of a pregnant patient. At the time the Idaho case began, the state had an exception for the life of a woman but not her health.

Texas pointed to a state supreme court ruling that said doctors do not have to wait until a woman’s life is in immediate danger to provide an abortion legally.

Doctors, though, have said the Texas law is dangerously vague, and a medical board has refused to list all the conditions that qualify for an exception.

."…………………..

Texas medical panel issues new guidelines for doctors but no specific exceptions for abortion ban

https://apnews.com/article/abortion-texas-exceptions-doctors-a14839a308b3d7779b83677b1be7fa1c

The board’s refusal to adopt specific exemptions to the Texas abortion ban was not a surprise. The same panel in March rebuffed calls to list specific exemptions, and the head of the board said doing so would have been beyond state law and the board’s authority. All 16 members of the board, which includes only one obstetrician and gynecologist, were appointed by Republican Gov. Greg Abbott, who signed the state’s abortion ban into law in 2021

So it is beyond their authority to list necessary exemptions…but not beyond their authority to basically deny needed care. Fuck them all!

22. SO, why DO we need a "Supreme Court?"
Mon Oct 7, 2024, 12:17 PM
Oct 2024

If everything is going back to the states for decisions, why do we need a court that makes decisions concerning all the states?
It would seem a Supreme Court is an unnecessary expense on the Taxpaying public.
Oh, and one other thing. If we're to leave the decisions to even more unqualified people at the State Level, why not let local Officials in each town decide what's best for their town?
Even better, why not leave the decision simply to the individual because the officials in my town are assholes who run rent-a-chores, deliver papers, fix toilets, don't know how to speak or write properly, complain about their neighbors, etc. What gives them the right to decide for or over me? Laws? Who makes the laws? WE..made the laws for everyone, except certain states can now make their own laws irrespective of other Americans in other states? Don't like the laws in your state? Just move? Getting crazy?
Again, why the need for a "Supreme Court" if decisions are to be made by the states?
Is this not t he "United States of America?"

Sort of like this...
