Ron DeSantis is refusing to take Harris' call on Hurricane Helene
Source: NBC News
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is not taking calls from Vice President Kamala Harris about storm recovery just over a week after Hurricane Helene hammered parts of his state.
A source familiar with the situation said he was dodging the Democratic presidential nominees calls because they seemed political, according to a DeSantis aide.
Kamala was trying to reach out, and we didnt answer, the DeSantis aide told NBC News.
The same person said not to my knowledge when asked if DeSantis had spoken to President Joe Biden.

(314 posts)that Milton (not Freidman) may require DeSantis to ask for more o' that Socialist stuff and such. Republicans seem to have a jones for FEMA largess when disasters hit red states and go into withdrawal when blue states need assistance. Weird ...... ain't it?

(36,207 posts)That sucker is now a Category 5 and even if it weakens coming onshore, whoever is unlucky enough to be just south of the eye will still be slammed by a 15-foot storm surge. What a creepy, evil, petty little man. But if he doesn't want federal help, have at it, Ron. Maybe it'll wake people up to the clusterfuck he's caused in that once-beautiful state.
Florida DUers, please stay safe.

There were reports all over Florida of people not being allowed to vote and new gerrymandering districts which I think I heard have been changed again.

(9,795 posts)At a political dead end, he's beyond giving a shit about the people in his state. His own constituents had the audacity to actually favor TFG over him. DeSantis would much rather play sabotage and point his finger elsewhere if and when things go south. Partisanship is a given in politics, but it should never be wielded as a weapon when people's lives and well-breing are at stake.
