Israeli military investigating 'possibility' Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar was killed in Gaza/ Now confirmed

Last edited Thu Oct 17, 2024, 11:44 AM - Edit history (4)

Source: NBC News

The Israeli military said Thursday it is "checking the possibility" Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar was among three militants killed in Gaza during its operations in the enclave.

Sinwar was declared Hamas' new political head in August following the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh.

If he is indeed dead, killing the man accused of being the architect of the Oct. 7 terror attack would be a major coup for Israel and its war in the Gaza Strip.

In a joint statement, the Israel Defense Forces and Israel Security Agency, or Shin Bet, said at least three militants were killed in a building. They did not expand on how they were killed.

In a joint statement, the Israel Defense Forces and Israel Security Agency, or Shin Bet, officials were investigating whether one of the three militants killed during a recent operation in Gaza was Sinwar.

IDF is checking Fingerprints and DNA to confirm.

No signs of hostages in area where Sinwar was killed in Gaza.

This is the jackass who is behind October 7, and has the blood of Israelis and Palestinians all over his hands.

They wouldn't be putting this information out there if they weren't pretty confident that it's him.

When he was in prison in Israel, a dentist helped diagnose a brain tumor and the Israeli's removed it. No doubt saved his life. Sinwar told that dentist he owed him his life and would one day repay it. That dentist's nephew was murdered on Oct 7th. May Sinwar rot in hell, but they probably won't even take him there.

The commander of the 10/7 attack? Interesting take.

Maybe now, there's a chance the "stupid fucks" WILL stop killing each other, in Gaza at least. For a while.

They go to bed at night and wonder how you lived through the day and if you will live through tomorrow and then decide it really doesn't matter. Humans should not have to live like that.

Yahya Sinwar, the Hamas leader who masterminded the 7 October attack on Israel that triggered the war in Gaza, has been killed in an unexpected encounter with Israeli ground forces, according to several initial reports.
...
Israel’s Kan Radio reported that the Hamas leader had been killed “by chance”, and not as a result of intelligence gathering. The station also said the bodies were found with lots of cash and fake IDs.

Graphic photos and video from the scene, broadcast on Israeli media, showed what appeared to be Sinwar’s body, wearing fatigues, with a severe head injury, lying on a pile of rubble on the floor of a destroyed building. It was not immediately clear when or where the footage was taken, or how the damage was caused.
...
Israel’s Channel 12 reported that an infantry battalion, operating with a tank unit, identified a group of men running into a building. The forces opened fire using tank shells, and the bodies were buried under the rubble.

or tunnel networks.

Hoping this leads to a ceasefire & hostage release - as Sinwar was intransigent in the negotiations. Although I have no idea who can speak for Hamas in Gaza now.

14. Sukkot, the season of our rejoicing!

I don't rejoice in his death. I'm rejoicing because it's sukkot!
According to the Jewish calendar, It's not quite a year since Hamas and rabble attacked Israel. Next Friday, Simchat Torah will be one year.

If he's been killed, I must say I'm relieved and grateful.
Tis the season of our rejoicing! Just spent the morning in shul, shaking the lulav and etrog, singing Hallel, having kiddush in the sukkah. Friend called me after services to give me the news! Waiting for confirmation.

And i went and voted later in the afternoon! After spending the morning in prayer for sukkot and rejoicing, the afternoon feeling relieved and hopeful after Sinwar's death, and the evening celebrating my voting on the first day possible, I'm feeling upbeat!
What a day it's been!

It is possible they can negotiate a quick hostage release, which many are hoping for.
I'm hoping for it too, to have them home to celebrate Simchat Torah. I don't think it will happen that quickly, but I still hope his death paves the way for bringing the hostages home soon!
