Georgia breaks another early voting record for Saturday turnout

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - Georgias enthusiastic voters are continuing to set records this election season. The state saw its biggest-ever Saturday turnout for a general election on Oct. 19, according to Gabriel Sterling, chief operating officer for the Georgia secretary of state. As of 1:30 p.m. hours before the polls close more than 102,000 Georgians had cast their ballots.
Early voting started on Tuesday, which saw its own record Georgias greatest turnout for the first day of early voting. So far, more than 1 million Georgians have voted in the 2024 general election.
Georgia is a crucial battleground state that could either make or break former President Donald Trump or Vice President Kamala Harris bid for the White House. Less than three weeks away from the election, both Harris and Trump are trying to sway as many Georgians as possible.
On Saturday, Harris has an Atlanta rally with pop superstar Usher. Shes also expected to return to the city on Oct. 24 with former President Barack Obama.
