Trump's main selling point turns toxic: Mass deportation is a polling loser
Source: salon
Trump knows that explaining what mass deportations entail would be a disaster for him
Donald Trump, who has made his entire candidacy a referendum on immigration, will not discuss his mass deportation plans in detailnot in a recent Univision town hall nor his one debate with Kamala Harris. Thats a tell.
Since those debates, Trump has only leaned deeper into mass deportations, while Harris has aggressively made her case about how she will help Latinos economically, a telling reset to reach Latino voters in the final weeks of the election.

Trump vows to deport millions. Builders say it would drain their crews and drive up home costs.
While some contractors dismiss the plan as political rhetoric, many say they cant afford to lose more people from an aging, immigrant-dependent workforce still short of nearly 400,000 people.
Trumps proposed mass deportations could decimate the US food supply

(611 posts)has no idea what this would do to the American economy. Tack on unbelievable high tarrifs, and yes, we will then be a 3rd world country. If it happens, all he'll say is ba bye, I'm moving overseas. My work is done here.

I don't believe this guy is not hiring the cheapest, most vulnerable people he can find.
We've fallen a long way since the press jumped all over Jimmy Carter when he said he had "felt lust in his heart" and turned it into a major scandal.

Progressives have really been working on becoming nimble. I'm still impressed with how the 2012 Obama campaign was able to turn Mittens into a cannibal capitalist that would eat the average worker for lunch.

(391 posts)I think that, just like all of his other imagined "plans", the only thing that exists is his "concept of a plan". I have yet to hear him discuss a plan for anything in even sketchy ideas, much less in any detail. He's just a typical shallow, ignorant, blowhard, who couldn't "explain what mass deportation entails", because he has no idea.
