WASHINGTON, DC (WWNY) - Politico reported Thursday night that North Country Congresswoman Elise Stefanik (R - 21st District) is on the short list to become President-elect Donald Trump’s next ambassador to the United Nations.

The report cites five people familiar with the potential appointment. Read the report here: https://www.politico.com/live-updates/2024/11/07/congress/stefanik-eyed-for-post-00188354

CNN reported Thursday night that Stefanik met with the Trump transition team, the people responsible for recommending who should hold jobs in the new administration.

This was made into a pretty red district after the 2010 Census and eventual redistricting in 2012. It doesn't look like much was done with the latest NY maps in 2024 to change it much other than expanding the area (it is pretty much the entire NE corner of NY) and the (D) lost by about 83,000 votes this past election.

She's always been as fake and malleable as playdough. The latter has more integrity.

I'm sure that's part of it.

Besides that, the women who accept jobs from Chump now don't realize they're going to be fired in 6 months or less. Nobody lasts long working for Chump, that's what they're going to find out.

You really have to wonder ...

you?

What a "brilliant" strategic move.

Similar to the strategy used by self-identified progressives refusing to vote for Hillary in 2016.

I don't know how much more of these "winning" strategies I can take.

Too bad the seat isn’t just automatically filled by the next higher vote winner. That would be the Democratic challenger Paula Collins!

it would be nice to have had a serious candidate run for the seat, ever. This time around I literally had no idea who was running until I started seeing signs and surmised. But, make no mistake, the district is a cesspool of essentially third world communities, meth dens, corrections workers, border patrol, military adjacent, extraction workers and farmers with pockets of more liberal academia. The band along and inside the northwestern section of the park has a very strong flavor of jim crow era Appalachia.
