Nov. 8 (UPI) -- President Joe Biden will travel to Lima, Peru and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil later this month for two international meetings.
In Peru, Biden will take part in the Asian-Pacific Economic Cooperation Summit from Nov. 14-16 and hold a bilateral meeting with Peruvian President Dina Boluarte. He will then participate in the G20 Summit in Brazil from Nov. 17-19, the White House said Thursday.
Biden is expected to meet Brazil President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva and visit the Amazon rainforest in Manaus. He will be the first sitting president to engage with local and Indigenous people there and with others working to preserve the ecosystem, the White House said.
"During the G20, President Biden will demonstrate the strong value proposition of the United States to developing countries and lead the G20 to work together to address shared global challenges like hunger and poverty, climate change, health threats, and developing country debt burdens," the White House said in a statement.
