Pence says he doesn't want Trump to pardon Jan 6 rioters and prays for president-elect to 'stand on his oath'

Former vice president Mike Pence, who became the target of a violent mob of Donald Trump supporters on January 6, 2021, said on Tuesday he does not think the president-elect should pardon rioters and prays that Trump maintains his commitment to the Constitution.

While speaking to an audience at the 2024 Dispatch Summit in Washington D.C., Pence, once again, said he does not think January 6 rioters should get a break, though Trump and his allies have described them as patriots who were wrongly prosecuted. “I don’t think the president should pardon anyone who assaulted a police officer at the United States Capitol on January 6,” Pence said on stage per The Dispatch.

Pence added that he and his wife are, “literally praying that president-elect Trump and vice president-elect Vance will stand on the commitments that they will make when they raise their right hands on that day.” A spokesperson for Pence wouldn’t confirm if that oath would include upholding the court rulings to keep January 6 convictions in place.

The former vice president said he believes with prayer, “God’s grace” and the public’s support, Trump and Vance will do so. Trump, however, has continuously promised all 1,500 rioters charged with crimes in connection to January 6 presidential pardons.

He never had any, and he still won't have any going forward.

Let us know how those prayers work for you, Mike.

Shouldn’t they be held accountable for threatening to take your life Mr. former vice president?

Pence is 100% to blame for all of this. Look at his adoring ass kissing looks at Trump during all these meetings. And now he wants us to believe him when he says Trump is bad. We all knew Trump was bad from the very beginning. We didn't need an Indiana Airhead to tell us that

The only oaths Trump takes seriously are people swearing obedience to him.

Trump is going to do the opposite of what Pence wants

Pandering to the religious right is not going to be enough - Pence can never promise them anything big enough

If the media makes a big enough deal about shock value that those pardons will bring, Trump will do it

Lastly, those criminals will be out eventually, and they can organize, fund raise - whatever. Whether they get out in January or months after, they will join their scumbag brothers and sisters to try and destroy anything they don't like. Their criminal records won't matter - many other Americans with clean records receive much less access and less privilege. Their goal is to widen that gap. Pardons are not usually awarded based on merit. Having said that, those convicted for Jan 6 participation, in my opinion should have been charged with treason, attempted murder, murder, manslaughter, and MINIMUM be UNDER the jail. Now - whether charges would have stuck, or were convicted on all charges, those charges should go through a jury court process. Civil damages should also be allowed.

If they get pardoned, it will be a dangerous act. Either way, most will be out sooner than later and we must actively resist MAGA efforts and sentiment everywhere. As boisterous as they have become, there must be a loud enough collective to rise and shame that evil. They cannot be allowed to go all over tearing down our country. The fact that they had to 'overthrow' it or 'take it back' shows that they know it has left that evil behind. Our country can survive bad evil presidents - but not by standing by and doing nothing.
