Another thing I have not heard much about is apparently AOC was saying that Gaetz resigned from THIS session of congress, but he is also elected for the next session starting in January. So he could technically just go back to his seat if this falls through. So would the ethics investigation and report carry over to the next congress??

And if the scenario pans out that he doesn't get confirmed (he won't be) or recess-appointed (that is a possibility still awaiting how Congress does their Rules for the 119th Congress), then he could be reappointed until the next Special Election.
