A battle could be looming between SpaceX CEO Elon Musk and the Federal Aviation Administration, which handles, among other things, air traffic as planes fly through U.S. airspace.
Musk faced proposed fines last year of about $633,00 over SpaceX violations, Politico reported, including over the company's unauthorized rocket firing.
When a rocket launch is scheduled, airplanes need to know to stay away from the air space.
Musk was furious that his rocket was delayed "for months because of a pending Fish and Wildlife Service review" and he deployed a "scorched earth" tactic, according to Politico.
"Hes used his social media megaphone to threaten to sue the agency for 'regulatory overreach,' accused it of 'politically motivated behavior,' taunted the FAA with crude humor and poked at the agencys rules, which he says move too slowly to meet his goal of getting human civilization to Mars. He has also called for the resignation of FAA leader Mike Whitaker who has four years left on the job, assuming he serves out his term," according to the report.

Geez, just fine Musk--and let him sue. He will sue whether fines are issued or not IMHO

(12,260 posts)Elmo is a vindictive prick, I have no doubt this issue is why he was spreading lies claiming the FAA wouldn't allow his helicopters into North Carolina with hurricane relief supplies.

(747 posts)and if you don't live in a lawless state run by criminals, then yes. It is clearly conflict of interest.
People don't seem to grasp that when one side tells you (you can quote any of them verbatim) that they WILL IMPOSE MAGA WILL ON YOU WHETHER YOU LIKE IT OR NOT - game over. All bets are off.
The statements The Sick Fuck and his MAGAtry have uttered are the blueprint for what they want to achieve. They even wrote a Project 2025 guidebook that lays out the plan. It's all right there.
If only we had a warning.
Justice matters.
(7,506 posts)Like he cares about anyone's life other than his.
Oh, he wants to "extend" civilization on planet Mars... like there's lots of food there on that dusty red desert!
And it takes 8 months of hazardous travel through space for food deliveries...
And once someone get bored to death of living over there, how do they come back home to their family, eh?
