UnitedHealthcare CEO shooting latest: Suspect's backpack had Monopoly money: Sources

The backpack recovered by the NYPD that allegedly belonged to the suspect wanted in the shooting of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, only had two items inside: a Tommy Hilfiger jacket and Monopoly money, sources with knowledge of the ongoing investigation told ABC News Saturday.

The NYPD believes it is making good progress toward identifying the suspect but, as of Saturday evening, no identification has been made, sources told ABC News.

Investigators continued to comb through the city for evidence and clues for a fourth day to try and catch the unidentified fugitive. That included the use of police divers.

Officers searched a pond near Bethesda Fountain in Central Park, not too far from where the suspect's backpack was found Friday night. Late Saturday evening, NYPD released a new image of the suspected shooter in what appeared to be the back of a cab, no further context was given.

Someone - a former classmate, a teacher, an acquaintance, an old neighbor, a co-worker - should have come forward to ID him by now. There must be a driver's license, passport, yearbook or student ID photo out there. Maybe the FBI already identified him and they aren't revealing the name to the media. Strange.

The FBI and police are only offering about $50,000 + another $10,000 for information leading to the arrest of the suspect. I mean the dead CEO made like $20 million a year. They couldn't come up with a few million to catch his shooter? I would think at least $2 million would be reasonable. But a measly $60,000? That is really stingy.

Now, they offered nothing when my cousin was shot dead by an attempted mugger. They never caught him either but he wasn't making $20 million a year.

Seems cops can no longer solve crimes. Too busy bullying traffic offenders and shooting up innocent people with swat teams at wrong locations.

Meanwhile there is a nationwide manhunt for the CEO assassin who probably lost a loved one thanks to Brian Thompson's callous, cruel and nefarious approach to deal with sick and suffering poor Americans who spent years dutifully paying their UHC premiums making him fabulously wealthy.

How many Americans would love to sit on the imminent jury if the suspect is taken alive?

Which makes me wonder how many of the "mistakes" the police have cited are actually part of his plan?

I have a feeling this guy is a lot smarter than they're giving him credit for.

For example:

Water Bottle (could have picked up a random one to mislead and tossed the other one - he has gloves on in some of the video). Same with the burner phone.

The backpack could have been second hand full of dna that’s not his. He wore a hoodie for a reason (besides hiding his head/hair style etc. it stops the pack from picking up his DNA).

I doubt a million dollar reward will incentivize anyone.
