Kamala Harris Cancels California Trip, Goes to White House--What We Know
Source: Newsweek
Vice President Kamala Harris abruptly canceled her plans to travel to Los Angeles on Thursday evening, according to an announcement from her office.
...
Harris had been scheduled to arrive at Los Angeles International Airport at 11:35 p.m. Thursday, as per the White House itinerary.
However, around midday, her office stated that she would "not travel to Los Angeles, CA, and will remain in Washington, D.C."
The news comes after reports that President Joe Biden had also arrived back at the White House after canceling his holiday in Delaware. Newsweek was not able to verify these reports. According to CNN, White House officials said he had no public events on his public schedule on Thursday as he prepared to return from Wilmington, Delaware.

Edited to be less sensational
Could this just be due to the pending government shutdown brought about by incoming President Musk?

(4,905 posts)I've been looking and haven't found anything yet. This article sprinkles in posts from "X" as examples of social media being abuzz, and that just makes it suspect for me. Still looking...
But if true, this is certainly odd, and worthy of paying attention to.

(24,701 posts)The only other source for this story that I found in a search was from Newsweek.
Biden and Harris staying at the WH is apparently factually true, but the OP article looks sensationalized.
Here's a rating for the Times of India as a news source.

(4,905 posts)I didn't want to say it, but yeah, I don't trust the source, either. All my links to resources like what you used are on my computer and I'm on my phone and about to get ready for sleep right now. So, thank you for doing the research.

(10,688 posts)My recollections are that it's a clickbait site. (Well, too many media sites like Fox live on that stuff now.) But I wouldn't put too much sauce in it until a well-respected source confirms it.

(12,970 posts)I can change this to Newsweek if you like.
If it turns out not be true then I will delete it. Has Harris arrived yet in LA?

(10,688 posts)So they're basically gossiping. It's not a good source for this story and certainly not better than Times of India.
AntiFascist
(12,970 posts)the only thing they couldn't confirm was Biden's status, but they did have solid reporting of Harris' change of plans.

TOI does good stuff, but good stuff when it comes to Indian issues. US stuff is a bit more sensationalized.

(18,282 posts)I've seen them, so have thousands of others here. An acquaintance of mine has a $2,000 drone, not a toy by any means. He took it out when a drone was near his house, and said that it was several hundred feet above his limit.
When he takes his out, it can barely be seen at night sky, and his is the size of a coffee table. The ones being reported are significantly larger than his.
Think. Again.
(18,947 posts)But the obvious answer is hobbyists having a laugh.
No other reason for anything to be out at night.
Polybius
(18,282 posts)I'm sure there are drones available to the public that cost upwards of $20k.

(12,970 posts)maybe Harris changing her holiday plans isn't all that newsworthy. It makes sense that she would want to stay in case she is physically needed in the Senate.
