The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has placed multiple drone flight restrictions over certain parts of New Jersey.

On Thursday, the agency announced restrictions largely aimed at limiting drone flights over power stations and infrastructure. The restrictions, which are limited to 400 feet of altitude, are strictly for drones and not civilian airplanes or helicopters.

“At the request of federal security partners, the FAA published 22 Temporary Flight Restrictions (TFRs) prohibiting drone flights over critical New Jersey infrastructure,” the agency said in a statement.

Later Thursday, New York Gov. Kathy Hochul also announced a temporary ban on flights over critical infrastructure sites across New York state, describing the decision as “purely precautionary.” Hochul did not provide further details on what sites would be covered, to what degree flights would be banned, and for how long.

Well, this will be embarrassing.

The FAA puts a temporary ban on drones- but- within 24 hours, the agency will be shut down and left unable to investigate or enforce and drone flights that break the new rule.

There should be enough funding to last through the rest of the year at least

The authority to spend is what expires at midnight tonight. They are technically out of time, by expiration date, rather than physically out of money. It would be illegal to spend money after midnight. If there isn’t a signed bill tonight, the government officially begins its shutdown procedure.

(Which, by the way, is to give formal written notice to every employee by noon tomorrow that they are either officially laid off; or are considered a health and safety employee that must work without pay.
