Sen. Andy Kim (D-N.J.), who famously cleaned up trash after the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol, said he is concerned that it is being papered over. Kim joined CNNs Dana Bash Sunday for State of the Union where he reflected on that day as it nears the four-year anniversary.
I mean, we saw with our own eyes, those of us that were in Congress, the American people saw, people all over the world saw, and the idea that its being papered over and that people that attacked the Capitol rioted, that theyre being talked as liberators, as prisoners now that are being unfairly treated, Kim said, highlighted by Mediaite.
We are a nation of rule of law and it
does break my heart, he continued. Kim, who was a representative for New Jersey since 2019, was elected to the Senate in the recent election.
As president-elect Trump prepares to take office again, there are concerns about what, if any, emboldened actions he, his administration and his supporters may do. Trump has vowed to seek retribution against his political enemies, including those who sat on the Jan. 6 Select House Committee to investigate his role in the attack.

(23,078 posts)Trump's first term has been flushed down the memory hole. Few Americans remember what a shit-show the country went through between 2016 and 2021 when Trump left office with an insurrectionist's riot. That is how Trump got re-elected.
America has fucked herself and now we'll get to see the explosion of TRump's second dumpster fire.

(8,493 posts)I felt that way when his picture was posted on DU and I still feel that way. January 6th hardened my heart against those people instead of breaking it. Sorry Sen. Kim, your words are mealy-mouth and soft imo.

Now, recently elected as Senator, Kim is saying that in spite of January 6th being a identified as a seditious, traitorous, conspiratorial attack on our country, it is being elevated to something like Bastille Day. In France, the peasants unseated a selfish entitled king and created a democracy. In the U.S.A., the entitled talked a bunch of scramble brained ninnies into overthrowing democracy nd installing a selfish, entitled king, complete with a court full of clowns. The news media aided and abetted, and the courts went along, cheerlfully cutting the head off one law after another, laws that were supposed to protect us from losing our democracy.
I'm glad Senator Kim doesn't forget the reality. With the entertainment that passes for news, he is one of the few people who was allowed to remind us that it was what it. In my opinion, the attack on our country is a day of infamy and should be described as such.

They wanted to make sure that the Republican membersbrand didnt get tarnished.
