Danish Prime Minister Says Greenland Is 'Not For Sale' As Trump Jr. Visits

As President-elect Donald Trump continues to voice his renewed interest in purchasing Greenland as a territory of the United States, Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen shared a message for him: Greenland belongs to the Greenlanders.
Greenland is not for sale, Frederiksen said Tuesday on Danish television, according to the BBC and Politico EU.
Her comments landed the same day Donald Trump Jr. arrived on the Arctic island in the familys branded jet for a brief, private visit. On social media, the president-elect referred to his eldest son, and those accompanying him, as his representatives.
Frederiksens comments echoed those made by Greenlandic Prime Minister Mute Egede after Donald Trump revived his 2019 idea to buy the land in a statement announcing his pick for ambassador to Denmark.
