...............
President-elect Donald Trump repeatedly vowed during his campaign that on his first day in office he would pardon the protesters who stormed the Capitol to stop the certification of the 2020 election, which President Joe Biden won.
Five people died as a result of the violence and the hundreds injured included 174 police officers. Some 127 defendants were convicted on at least one charge related to the riot.
If you protested peacefully on January 6, and you had Merrick Garlands Department of Justice treat you like a gang member, you should be pardoned, Vance said in an interview to air Sunday on Fox News Sunday. If you committed violence on that day, obviously you shouldnt be pardoned.
Trump has begun to modify his promise since winning election, saying that many will be pardoned and that there could be exceptions for people who got out of control. But he hasnt made the clear distinction that Vance made between violent and non-violent protesters......

Vance suggests there's a grey area in there. Thing tmp agrees?
Think. Again.
(21,156 posts)....would not have left the permitted rally site and so would have not have illegally been anywhere near the Capital building, and certainly not past the barricades that the violent protesters broke down and stormed through.

(18,997 posts)He knows that there's a good chance that Trump might not have the cognitive ability to serve all 4 years. He has an excellent chance of becoming President. It would be incredibly stupid to resign.

(31,027 posts)Vance might be trying to separate himself from Trump's craziness. If Trump goes down in a ball of flames of his own making, Vance won't want to be sucked down with him.
