'Massive Reversal': Trump Ripped For Already Backpedaling On Key Campaign Promise

Source: Huff Post

Jan 13, 2025, 02:19 AM EST

Critics are putting President-elect Donald Trump on blast after a key advisor appeared to back away from a major campaign promise. Trump has repeatedly claimed he would end the war between Russia and Ukraine within 24 hours of taking office or even sooner. But retired Lt. Gen. Keith Kellogg, who Trump tapped to serve as special envoy to the two nations, told Fox News last week it would take longer ― echoing comments made earlier by Trump himself.

“Let’s set it at 100 days and move all the way back and figure a way we can do this in the near-term to make sure that the solution is solid, it’s sustainable, and that this war ends so that we stop the carnage,” he said.

Russian President Vladimir Putin launched the invasion into Ukraine in February 2022, kicking off a costly and brutal campaign. The Pentagon last year estimated that more than 600,000 Russian soldiers had been killed or wounded in the conflict, while Ukraine said last month 43,000 of its soldiers were killed, with another 370,000 wounded.

Kellogg told Fox News he had “a lot of confidence” in Trump’s ability to end the bloodshed. “I think what people need to understand, he’s not trying to give something to Putin or to the Russians,” Kellogg said. “He’s actually trying to save Ukraine and save their sovereignty, and he’s going to make sure that it’s equitable and that it’s fair.” However, his 100-day timetable is a far cry from Trump’s repeated vow to end the war much more quickly.

"Building a big beautiful wall across our southern border."

What did they complete? 54 miles of new wall? Then their MAGAt mentor, Steve "Mr. Dirt" Bannon, steals the money the MAGAt faithful donates to build new sections of wall!

Sure, you can believe TrumpCo. Honest as the day is long.

Don't keep letting him do smoke and mirrors with Greenland, Panama Canal and this other ever increasing non-sense he spews and paint ALL Repugs with it. Not that he has shame, nor the rest of the GOP, but add pressure and given the House's already high level of dysfunction, watch them chase their own tail. And we might get lucky and Donnie will blow a heart valve or something.

govern his way out of a paper bag and his word is completely worthless. The fact that Americans voted for this con a second time is really mind blowing (well really one time but you get my drift).

The only thing I am sure of with him is that he will crater the economy and the billionaire boys club will get their pound of American flesh. Our party will be around to pick up the pieces again after the GOP ruins the economy and our alliances. Yet alliances are harder to repair after a second stab in the back.

and then will spend many column inches and hours of discussion on investigating the feasibility of implementing literal illegalities or ridiculous absurdities and rambling propositions.

It's to the point where he can say -

"We all know that the moon is made of cheese so the U.S. should send up some spacemen to colonize it and mine it for cheese and then ship it back".

And the media will have a headline that says -

"Is the moon really made of cheese? It's complicated".

THAT is how far this country has fallen.
