Greg Abbott Orders American Flags Be Flown At Full Staff During Inauguration

Source: meidasnews.com

Abbott is actively placating Donald Trump

Aaron Parnas 8 minutes ago

Texas Governor Greg Abbott has officially ordered that the American flag be flown at full-staff during Donald Trump's inauguration on January 20th. By doing so, Abbott is bucking United States policy that requires the American flag be flown at half-staff in the 30 days following the death of a current or former President.

................

Despite this, in recent weeks, Donald Trump and other Republicans have begun complaining about the flags being flown at half-staff during the inauguration. Trump has gone so far as to comment multiple times publicly about the policy, demanding that the flags be flown at full-staff.

President Biden and the White House have repeatedly stated that they will not be bucking this policy to placate Donald Trump, and despite Trump's personal opposition, the flags at the United States Capitol during the inauguration will be at half-staff.

Makes me sick that Abbott will see no repercussions for this disgusting plan. --in fact, he will be praised for it--along with other Repugs.

Flags were at half staff during Nixon's second inaugural in January 1973.

Nixon, for all his faults, did not whine about it. At least not publicly, no idea if he said anything privately.

I know that is terrible and I feel guilty writing that, but this man is an unrepentant monster. I think about the beautiful example of Christopher Reeve--whose accident instilled in him a fight to survive, recover, and help others in his situation to walk again. Thus, his life had meaning even while it was cut short.

By contrast, Abbott has used his personal misfortune to fuel his hatred and harm toward others. Every day another malign plan to hurt those with whom he does not agree or those to whom he feels superior.

So, guilty or not, I stand by my statement. sigh...

The federal buildings are staffed by Texans, many of whom either sympathize with Abbot’s views or don’t want to rock the boat. Plus, it’s not like they are going to suffer any consequences for not going by national guidelines.

As for military bases, etc… Odds are they’ll stay at half staff, but I wouldn’t be surprised if there are a couple of MAGA sympathizers among their leadership.
