2 New Ford-Class Aircraft Carriers Will Be Named After Former Presidents Bill Clinton, George W. Bush

Source: Military.com

The White House announced Monday that the Navy will name the two latest Ford-class aircraft carriers after former Presidents Bill Clinton and George W. Bush.

The future USS William J. Clinton and the future USS George W. Bush will become the fifth and sixth ships of the Ford class -- the class of ships that is slated to eventually replace the venerable Nimitz-class carriers that are in operation today.

"When I personally delivered the news to Bill and George, they were deeply humbled," Biden said in the statement released by the White House.

Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said that the Pentagon was "honored" by the choice of names.

In which case it would be disrespectful as hell to name it after him.
Now a hospital ship I could understand as he cared about people as we saw for decades with his work with and for Habitat For Humanity.

a Naval Academy Grad in 1946. He stayed in the service which by all accounts he was going to make it a career. He owed 5yrs back active duty, he stayed until 1953. Even going back to run the farm he stay in the reserves to 1961 . They did name a hunter/killer submarine for him in 2005.

You could make a fast deep underwater drone with a ton of explosive for $1,000,000. So for the money you could build a fleet of 13,000 underwater drones.

And it is not just the carrier. A carrier group requires many ships to support and defend the carrier.
