Joni Ernst says she'll vote to confirm Pete Hegseth

Source: Politico

Pete Hegseth has won over Sen. Joni Ernst.

The Iowa senator said Tuesday she will be voting to confirm Hegseth to the next Defense secretary, a crucial endorsement for a nomination that seemed to be on shaky ground a few weeks ago.

Ernst told an Iowa radio show that said the former Fox News host was able to adequately answer all her questions during his confirmation hearing before the Armed Services Committee.

“He pointed out the woke issues at the Pentagon and I think we’re at a point where now we can start moving forward. People know where he stands on these issues,” Ernst said. “I will be supporting President Trump’s pick for secretary of Defense, Pete Hegseth.”

Ernst — a combat veteran and sexual assault survivor — was considered a pivotal vote after she raised concerns over Hegseth’s past comments saying women should not be able to serve in combat, as well as several allegations of sexual misconduct.

Trump will get all of his security risks confirmed.

I will not go quietly. I live among Magats and I am 77, just had a good ECHO test, so I hope to have many years to harass them. Won’t change anything but I need to vent.

Both are veterans.

To go with Joni means to invalidate Tammy.

Only one of them loves this country.

She has a combat patch on her right sleeve because she served in a combat zone not because she saw combat.

Fucking media never takes the time to explain the differences.

When asked why she didn't attend the hearing in which Dr. Blasey-Ford testified about the night that Brett Kavanaugh sexually assaulted her, Joni Ernst answered "I trust Chuck Grassley." At the time, I almost felt embarrassed for her. What an ignorant thing to say.

Joni Ernst is a fraud. She does not care about women. She doesn't care if women die because of a lack of reproductive health care. She doesn't care if women are sexually assaulted if the perpetrator is a republican man who needs her confirmation vote. She is one of the most loathsome members of the U.S. Senate. She has constructed a facade in which she claims to be an independent thinker. That is a lie. The longer she has been in Washington, the more corrupt and full of hubris she has become.

I'm not from her State, but I am a veteran.

Interesting that her email form asks you if you are current or retired military, and then asks you for your rank. I suspect I didn't make the cut of folks she pays attention to.

So that's all it takes, just say woke or DEI and your in! What exactly are the "woke issues" at the Pentagon anyway.

It saves a lot of disappointment in the long run. I can’t even watch msnbc anymore with their panel discussions opining whether fill in the blank, R-asshole will hold the line with their vote because of course they won’t. It used to be comedy gold how they actually think an R might save the day but now it’s just the same old lather rinse repeat. I think maybe McCain with his ACA vote was the last R to vote his conscience and the orange felon did everything he could to make McCain persona non grata in the R party till the day he died, and continued to smear him after his death. And all his fellow Rs including his best pal Lindsey stayed silent and continued kissing the orange felon’s ass.
