Donald Trump on Monday issued an executive order reclassifying thousands of federal employees as political hires, making them easier to fire if deemed insufficiently loyal to the new president and his aims.
One of a promised flurry of measures signed on Trumps first day back in power, the order effectively reinstates Schedule F, which sought to allow for the reclassification of tens of thousands of federal workers. Schedule F changed civil service rules to allow for a broad swath of career federal employees to be fired without civil service protection, reclassifying their jobs as political appointments.
In the executive order posted Monday night on the White House website titled Initial rescissions of harmful executive orders and actions, Trump revoked an executive order issued by Joe Biden two days after assuming office in 2021.
That order revoked a different late-term Trump order that redesignated many federal civilian employees, which exempted them from civil service protections.

And guess what, most of his voters don't even pay attention enough to really know anything he does or the ramifications.
They are blissful maga frogs who don't know the water is going to boil them alive.

(113 posts)In the not so long ago past I also worked for "The government" at one time . This was not some sexy fed position that captures headlines or stirs vast controversy but a small obscure county job. The facility that I worked at had a large amount of public interaction daily so we were very much visible even if not at all interesting. I was the senior person in charge. One time during an election cycle I had an employee who started putting up campaign material around the place for a certain candidate in the local election He tried to give me crap for it when I took it all down but cooled his jet's when I told him I would take this to the next level up if he kept up his bullshit ( even though I had the seniority I did not have the power to fire, That was one level up from me ) Even though I had my own personal leanings in the area politics I knew damn well when one is a public employee well then,, One serves the public, That's it, You don't view people walking through the door as "Democrat's', "Republican", ect. You view them as the public your expected to serve with the same amount of courtesy and service all the way around. The elected people of course are expected to openly expound on their party affiliations but in my opinion regular civil servant's ( hourly people in private business) need to stay apolitical at work and remember they are there to do a job for "THE PUBLIC'' regardless of how they lean politically ( And yes, I do know campaign posters and the like are illegal on Government property, One of the reasons I jumped this guy)

(19,520 posts)Sounds pretty close to rewriting the basis of the constitution or the very structure of government.
If he can do this, he can start firing Capital school teachers, firemen, and all FBI agents. He could go through the halls of Foggy Bottom or the IRS to make sure there are sufficient portraits of him hanging on the walls.

Trump is in effect, a dictator.
