Trump suspends US foreign assistance for 90 days pending reviews

Source: AP

Updated 6:50 AM EST, January 21, 2025

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump signed an executive order temporarily suspending all U.S. foreign assistance programs for 90 days pending reviews to determine whether they are aligned with his policy goals.

It was not immediately clear how much assistance would initially be affected by the Monday order as funding for many programs has already been appropriated by Congress and is obligated to be spent, if not already spent.

The order, among many Trump signed on his first day back in office, said the “foreign aid industry and bureaucracy are not aligned with American interests and in many cases antithetical to American values” and “serve to destabilize world peace by promoting ideas in foreign countries that are directly inverse to harmonious and stable relations internal to and among countries.”

Consequently, Trump declared that “no further United States foreign assistance shall be disbursed in a manner that is not fully aligned with the foreign policy of the President of the United States.”

He works for us, not the other way around.
Who actually voted for this?

6. I wouldn't think so, but it might depend on treaty and contractual obligations. As to who voted for this

The people who voted for this, a majority of Republiconned voters, but not a majority of all voters -- the people who voted for this believe the following things:

* foreign aid is at least 5% of budget and likely closer to 20%. (closer to 1%, not sure of most recent amount)

* foreign aid is a communist scheme with no benefit to the US.

* foreign aid is a corrupt capitalist scheme that only benefits Democrats or Democratic leaders.

Regarding the legalities of presidential actions, I gave my best guess, but I have no actual knowledge of it.

For my part, I will not buy any American product expect essentials, until and if the scourge on our nation is removed.

One wonders how many of these so-called "religious" leaders will speak up against this?

Sounds like only his friends will get aid.
I don't know how that can work since aid already approved by Congress is obligated to be spent. The question is how long can he hold it back?

10. Kick Backs?????

I would like to kick him back!!!!! He did something like 200 EO, he wants to see how much chaos and pain he can conflict on the American people and our allies. When will enough be enough with this lunatic??? I don't see him stopping gutting everything we hold dear to keep his oligarchs happy plus stuffing his own pockets.

Again, he has scrupulous people who will be doing his bidding, or is it the orchestrators of Project 2025 and the billionaires like Musk, Bezos and Zuckerberg all in the plan together.

My question is how long it will be before we act??? Because we all know they will take everything away from us.

I know what a "kick back" is. Just a little humour, when I said I would like to kick back him. Literally.
