BYRON — A local woman shot her four children — killing three — and then shot herself Monday, the Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office says in a statement that cites audio of the woman’s own 911 call. ... The woman called 911 at 1:30 p.m. to report her four daughters had been shot, says a statement the sheriff’s office released Tuesday. She told the dispatcher she believed the girls were dead: two would be upstairs in their cribs and two would be downstairs, or ground level, in their shared bedroom, the statement relates.

The woman said she was going to shoot herself and could be found in her upstairs bedroom of the Byron, Wyoming, home, says the statement. ... The dispatcher pleaded with her, and urged her to stay on the line until first responders could arrive. ... But the woman kept saying it was too late, says the statement.

“Multiple attempts to keep her on the line failed and the call was disconnected,” it adds.

3. This would have been a very different story without guns

For example, when veterans are feeling suicidal they may voluntarily give their guns to a third party for secure storage. Because they're worried what they might do if they feel upset enough. It could be the same way for a mom feeling whatever this woman was going through. Yikes.

5. According to neighbors who posted on FB, it was postpartum psychosis. She was being treated, but it wasn't enough.

FB Post

To those of you who know nothing about the mom involved, she was funny and sweet. She was caring and kind. Her 4 children were young and she had the youngest 2 very close together. I've read from people who knew her better than me that she struggled with post-partum depression. She did seek help. It wasn't enough. Mental health resources are seriously lacking. I'm wishing I had checked on her. I'm not making excuses, but I am asking people to focus on what's most important which is to pray for the dad and for the daughter who is fighting for her life and donate to the to funeral expenses if you can. ~Briana Barker

8. 2 young kids close in age together?

Is this some of that xtianist stuff we're seeing here? I'm really interested in seeing just how many different ways the laws passed against women since the death of RvW have hurt women. We already know, thanks to St. Reagan that mental health help has suffered for decades, but it's especially dire for women, vets, and individuals who don't conform to the "norm" (whatever that is at the moment).

Nearly 1.9 million Americans have died from gun-related incidents since 1968, 48,000 in 2022 alone. Every eleven minutes in the US, someone is killed by a firearm and President Trumpf recently signed an Executive Order to reverse federal firearms regulations.

America has the casualties of a warzone without a foreign invader.
