Tesla and Elon Musk are embroiled in a brand tornado crisis moment and the electric carmakers chief executive needs to cut back on his work for Donald Trump to stem the damage, one of the companys biggest supporters has said.
The warning came as Tesla announced a recall of 46,000 Cybertrucks in the US on Thursday to fix an exterior panel that could detach while driving.
It came as protesters announced on Wednesday they were planning what they described as their biggest day of action yet against the EV maker, with 500 demonstrations expected at Tesla showrooms around the world on 29 March.
Tesla shares have lost a third of their value over the past month because of a number of investor concerns including the impact on sales from Musks high-profile involvement with the Trump administration, including gutting the public sector through his department of government efficiency (Doge).

(2,753 posts)Most of Tesla's "recalls" are over the air software updates. I don't think they can fix body parts falling off with a passive software update. People are going to have to schedule service, take their vehicles somewhere, drop them off, be without them, pick them up. Be very inconvenienced. Sucks for them.

I would guess there's a chance that if he does spend more time on Tesla due to shareholder pressure, he'll want to look busy for appearances' sake, and will cause even more chaos in what is already a deeply troubled company.
