Trump Says He Won't 'Fire People' Over Signal Messages, Reiterates Support Of National Security Team

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) — President Donald Trump on Saturday made his clearest commitment to not fire anyone over an embarrassing accidental leak of his administration’s plans for an airstrike against the Houthis in Yemen.

“I don’t fire people because of fake news and because of witch hunts,” Trump said in an interview with NBC News’ Kristen Welker. He also said that he had confidence in Mike Waltz, his national security adviser, and Pete Hegseth, his Pentagon chief.

Waltz inadvertently added Jeffrey Goldberg, the editor of The Atlantic magazine, to a group text using the Signal encrypted messaging service where top officials were discussing plans to attack the Houthis. During the chat, Hegseth included details on how the strike would unfold before it took place. Afterwards, The Atlantic published an article on the internal exchange, shocking the national security establishment.

Trump is eager to avoid repeating some of the turnover that characterized his first term. Mike Flynn, his first national security adviser, was pushed out after only a few weeks during the early phase of the Russia investigation. He’s also shown resistance to bowing to outside pressure, especially if it comes from the news media.

What he notes as 'fake news' and 'witch hunts' was a U.S. security blunder of epic proportions.

Perhaps worthy of another impeachment for not recognizing the gravity of the violations and for not issuing severe punishment to those involved.

So we know Trump's position on SignalGate, when will we know Democrats' position?

Without a unified Democratic message SignalGate is going to disappear, just like the messages self-delete.

Hegseth and Waltz must resign or be fired by Krasnov. Personal phones that are being used on Signal must be screened for mal ware. Democrats must demand that the Houthi war plans communications be shown that they were saved on a government device, if not, every member on that Signal chat must be investigated and prosecuted for failure to preserve government communications which is punishable for up to 10 years in prison.

What say you Chuck? Is it time to take a stand yet? Maybe after the book tour?

There is no bottom to how weak this man is. He's in charge of a vastly more powerful nation. He has a cult that will excuse anything, no matter how foul the kompromat Vladdy-boy has on him is.

Yet he unflinchingly does his master's bidding.

Maybe we should give him yet another derisive nickname: Igor.
